Teen films are a film genre targeted at teenagers and young adults in which the plot is based upon the special interests of teenagers, such as coming of age, first love, rebellion, conflict with parents, teen angst or alienation. Normally the target audience would be teenagers and are expected to watch them as these films are aimed at them too. The sub genres that are included in teen films are supernatural, musical, comedy, horror, thriller, american high school, rom-com and etc.
The types of location in teen movies are:
- Home - Bebroom with wired phone
- School/College - Corridors with lockers, classroom, cafeteria, entrance
- Sports locations - Basketball court, field playing football, garden
- 'Hang out' locations - Mall, parties, treehouse, best friends house
The reason why we enjoy watching teen movies are because:
- often have comedic value
- we can often relate as it might be something we're going through
Who watches teen films:
- People in their teen age/early 20's
- Young kids looking forward to being a teenager
- Older people, what they grew up with, could be nostaglic
