Who would be the audience for your media product?
The target audience for teen movies in general vary
depending on the sub genres of the movies. For example if its romance, love,
drama and fantasy sub-genre it will be a film mainly for females or for ages of
14-18 and young adults. Another example is if it is an action, horror, thriller
and sci-fi film it is targeted towards males or ages between 13-17 and young
adults. Furthermore even elderly people watch teen movies as it reminds them of
the past when they were at that age at the time and therefore can relate. The
main genre of our movie is comedy, drama and adventure. The audience for our teen movie is 13-19 and
the elderly people.
Our unique selling point is the group hug near at the end of
our opening. This is because we have three stereotypical characters which in
normal teen movies are never friends or make minimised communication with each
other much but in our opening they are all close friends which is a big
contrast and is very unique. This kind of variation of group of friends can
relate globally to both male and female to suggest stereotypes are over
exaggerated and that you shouldn’t judge a person by his or her representation
until you make communication with each other. We are sure this will appeal to
young teenagers as some of them have gone through existing stereotypes which
are not exaggerated and presumably majority have not. But this is also to be
seen as entertainment and having a laugh as it not for real life situations.
We made an Instagram account which was our social media
network. The account named was group 36 which we kept followers updated with
the progress of our film. This would attract our desired target audience and
therefore increase the amount of followers we had to see our film. We posted a
variety of things such as posters, ruff cut, final cut, film, and progress etc.
With the followers we could get valuable feedback and ideas during the process
of making the final film opening to make it very good as well as feedback after
we post the final film opening.
