Evaluation Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

During our teen film opening we spent a lot of time getting the angles right, getting the right shots and making sure everything was in the right place. This video was made using the program Camtasia to record a 'director's cut'. I went through the film with camtasia and talked about the used forms and conventions during our teen opening.

We also had stereotypes used in the film opening. We had three stereotypes of teens, the geek, glamorous girl and the jogger. We were influenced by 'The Breakfast Club' who had included different stereotypes of teenagers which were similar to our choice. Our setting took place around college and the college entrance and on public transport. These are very stereotypical teenage settings as aged 13-18 the most typical places to hang around would be in college, the reason why we included the college entrance was to show our audience how different their entrances was to be with totally opposite characteristics and personalities. Moreover as included in the Camtasia recording as a group using sound cloud we used different music that we thought identified each character and their mood. We used a hip hop and speedy music for the jogger that kept up with his pace of jogging to the college. We used an r&b music for the glamorous girl to show her cool ways and included a guy looking at her to actually show our audience how attractive she was to pull looks. We used a very jolly music for the geek presenting him doing work on the bus in the morning on his journey to college. The binary oppositions in our opening with our totally different characters could make our audience think this could cause conflicts, however as our teen film carries on our main idea was to show our audience how these totally different characters became best friends.

Our title sequence was planned and ordered before the final video was made on final cut pro. We blogged about the title sequence and actually used the title sequence order print on our classroom wall to gain idea. We firstly came up with something like this for the sequence and then improved on it:

Distribution Company - Fireworks Films
Production Company - Stoned Productions
Actor 1 - Shah Iqram
Actor 2 - Liban Abdulahi
Film Title - CANDI Club
Actor 3 - Ololade Arowolo

We also had a look at other films openings to see the title sequence and the order they had put it in. We used fast and furious' title sequence to take ideas.
